A starter note about writing in small, connected pieces.

Try making a note around one thought you can name in a sentence.

“Reading” is a broad shelf. Read for the connection is a smaller thought with a direction. It can live on that shelf and still make sense when linked from somewhere else.

A shape to borrow

  1. Say the idea plainly.
  2. Give it an example or explain why it matters.
  3. Link to a related thought.
  4. Keep one open question.

This is an experiment, not a rule about length. A note can be a paragraph or several pages. The useful test is whether its title still describes what is inside.

Let connections carry some weight

You do not have to repeat every related idea in the same document. A link can offer another path without interrupting this one.

Several small pieces might eventually meet in an article. Or they can remain a handful of useful notes.
